UAE flights: Airfares double during summer break, Eid Al Adha holidays

Prior to the summer break, airfares are expected to increase even more to popular locations including the UK, Egypt, the GCC, and the Indian subcontinent.

Executives in the travel business remarked that as people are now booking their vacations well in advance, airfares to Asia, the Middle East, and the UK began to increase in February and March.

They pointed out that during the busiest travel times of the summer, particularly around Eid Al Adha, which will be observed at the end of June, tickets to well-known places like London are expected to quadruple.

Although inhabitants of the UAE have increased their desire to travel over the past year, there is still a capacity issue for airlines. Inbound and outward travel as well as tourism from the UAE have increased significantly.

During the summer, Air India added a few flights on the UAE route, bringing momentary stability on a few days.

When schools are out for the summer, travel spikes, significantly raising the cost of air travel. Indian curriculum schools often close during the first week of July when classes are off for the summer. Some schools could decide to close a week or two early because to Eid Al Adha, which is anticipated to happen on June 28. While in Britain, schools are off from June until the last or first week of August.

According to Sunil Panwar, head of business development at Rayna Tourism, airfares on several airlines have increased by as much as 40%.

“There is a significant demand at this time, which causes costs to increase mostly on routes that run through India, Pakistan, Egypt, and the United Kingdom. The cost of flying has increased for citizens’ favourite short-haul destinations as well, he added.

The top short-haul travel and tourist destinations for UAE citizens over the past several years have been East European and CIS states.

He gave the example of low-cost plane tickets to India, which typically cost approximately Dh1,200 but can go up to Dh1,800–2,000 in the summer. While airfare for full-service carriers increases from Dh2,500 to Dh3,300.

In addition, Panwar noted that during school summer vacations, airfares to London quadruple.

According to Raheesh Babu, chief operating officer of Musafir.com, individuals began making early reservations for flights in February and March on routes to and from the Indian Subcontinent and Europe because Eid also falls at the start of the holiday period this year, which may prompt schools to close early.
