Revealed: First day of Eid Al Fitr 2022 for most countries

The International Astronomical Center said May 2 will be the first day of Eid al-Fitr in quite a while, as the bow of Shawwal 1443 A.H. will be seen on Saturday, 30th April, comparing to 29 Ramadan.

Muhammad Shawkat Odeh, Director of the Center, noticed that in nations that started Ramadan on Sunday, April 3, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Iran, Oman, Jordan, Morocco and Ghana, the sickle of Shawwal will be seen on Sunday, May 1.

He added that in nations that will observer the sickle on Saturday, April 30, seeing the bow on that day will be incomprehensible in light of the fact that the moon will set before the sun and, hence, these nations will have finished 30 days of Ramadan, so Eid Al Fitr will begin on May 2.

In nations that will observer the sickle on May 1 locating the moon that day won’t be imaginable in Australia and adjoining areas, yet will be conceivable through telescope in Central and West Asia, the vast majority of Europe and Southern Africa.
