The UAE Public Prosecution (PP) clarified today, through a post on its web-based media accounts, the punishments for adulterating an electronic report.
As per Article 14 of the Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 on Combatting Rumors and Cybercrimes, “whoever adulterates any of the electronic records of the Federal or Local Government, or administrative or neighborhood public specialists or associations” will be condemned to impermanent detainment as well as a fine running somewhere in the range of Dh150,000 and Dh750,000.
On account of distorting reports of any substance not expressed over, the punishment will be confinement and additionally a fine running somewhere in the range of Dh100,000 and Dh300,000.
In addition, “whoever purposely utilizes the adulterated electronic record” will be condemned to the punishment recommended for the offense of misrepresentation.
